Specializing in bold, fragrant flavors, this charming restaurant serves up an extensive menu packed with beloved Thai staples and unique regional dishes that promise to excite every palate.
At Thai Gai Yang Cafe, each dish is a sensory journey. The Pad Thai tantalizes with its perfect balance of sweet, salty, and tangy notes wrapped around tender rice noodles and crunchy peanuts. The Chicken Satay arrives with rich, smoky char marks and a creamy peanut dipping sauce that melds savory and slightly sweet flavors seamlessly. Dive into the warming depths of the Tom Yum soup, where the spicy-sour broth is brightened by fresh lemongrass, galangal, and a splash of lime, invigorating your taste buds with every spoonful.
For those craving something less common, the Khao Soi Gai is a must-order—a Northern Thai specialty with curry-laced coconut broth, tender chicken, and a crispy noodle crown that adds an irresistible textural contrast. Don’t miss the delicate Crab Rangoon, served with a sweet and sour sauce that cleverly balances the creamy, savory filling. Plus, the Spicy Basil dish, especially when paired with crispy pork belly like in the praised “Pad Spicy Basil Moo Krob,” offers a wonderful interplay of heat and crunch.
Diners also rave about the Pad See Eew Noodle, rich with smoky soy sauce and al dente noodles, and the vibrant Papaya Salad that bursts with fresh acidity and spice. Complement your meal with the signature Thai Iced Tea, a sweet, creamy, and refreshing beverage that perfectly rounds out the often-spicy menu.
The dining atmosphere at Thai Gai Yang Cafe is both welcoming and understated, providing a comfortable space ideal for solo diners, intimate meals, or small groups. Guests particularly appreciate the clean, cozy environment and friendly staff, whose attentiveness ensures a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Whether you’re new to Thai food or a seasoned enthusiast, the staff’s warm hospitality makes you feel right at home.
Most importantly, the generous portion sizes and fair pricing make this cafe not just a gastronomic delight but also an excellent value. For example, customer Ryan Gray highlights the crispy pork belly’s satisfying texture and flavor balance, while Sarah Higgins praises the large servings and speedy service. Manyam Devika notes the authenticity and tasteful renewal of the space, enhancing the already vibrant dining experience.
In sum, Thai Gai Yang Cafe is a standout destination for anyone seeking genuine Thai flavors crafted with care and authenticity. From the zing of the Hot and Sour Soup to the heartiness of Nam Tok Mue Noodle Soup, each bite reveals layers of tradition and passion for Thai culinary arts. If you find yourself in St. Louis, this café is a flavorful, inviting must-visit that invites you to savor Thailand’s rich tastes without leaving the city.
This is a pretty good Thai place. I got the Pad Spicy Basil Moo Krob which came with crispy pork belly. It was pretty good and I would suggest if you are a hug pork belly fan. The staff are always really nice and price is good for what you get. I will be stopping by again.
TRY THE THAI TEA....This place by far is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in a long time. The food was delivered hot, it had just the right amount of spice. The place was a very clean, I got an education from the student I'm hosting from Thailand. She ordered for the both of us and,.. ok look this place is nice for you by yourself, bring a friend, bring a group, for the group call first. I got full off the thai rice! I had to take the rest home. You will not be disappointed coming for lunch or dinner.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant they were just opening for the day as we were greeted at the door, we were seated and we choose to sit in the window seats that were form fitted leather and very comfortable we then was offered our menu’s, the menu was easy to read with plenty of items to choose from we ordered our food and some of the food came out really fast. The appetizers were a great size and was delicious. I tasted everything that we ordered and I will be back.
